Youth thrashed over Rs 25k, 5 booked
25-year-old man was thrashed by people from another religious community over Rs 25,000 in Baghpat area on Sunday night.

According to Shivam Kumar’s family, five persons from his neighbourhood allegedly took him to their house forcibly, where they beat him up brutally with fists and sticks. “An FIR under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (criminal assault), 452 (house trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered against five persons,” said Additional SP Manish Kumar Mishra.

R Siva, the leader of the opposition in the Puducherry Assembly, has been booked by the police for trespassing and intimidating a hotelier. The charges were filed following a direction from the Madras high court. The hotelier, V Ganesan, alleged that Siva and his associate, Jerold, trespassed on his property, damaged his hotel, and obstructed its operation. Ganesan had previously filed a complaint in 2014, but the issue resurfaced in December 2019 when the opposite party obstructed the hotel's entrance. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
